Old Town Carriage House

The existing five car garage was a basic concrete block structure with a flat roof and was detached from the main residence. The owners needed storage, a guest room and an office, but only a three car garage. The first floor was remodeled to provide storage, mechanical space and a stairway to the second floor addition, which contains a guest bedroom, bathroom and office. Due to zoning restrictions, the second floor area was limited to about two thirds of the footprint, so roof decks provide outdoor space for the bedroom and office. A turn-of the century industrial aesthetic was utilized to relate to the existing Victorian-era townhouse. Major materials are brick, natural finished wood garage doors and a standing seam metal roof.
